Social Motor Group At The Zone

June 11-July 25th, 2019

This group is for school age children with an emphasis on age appropriate skills needed for improved peer interactions and classroom success. This group will be offered multiple days and you may register for any number of days.

The group sessions will target:

  • Social pragmatic skills/ social attention using Social Thinking curriculum
  • Language development – expressive and receptive
  • Self-regulation strategies – impulse control and emotional regulation; attention to task
  • Social mapping – learn strategy to empower kids and parents to work through various social challenges
  • Take home ideas to promote generalization of learning
  • Peer interactions – entering a group, following group rules, and increasing social flexibility
  • Problem solving skills

Kindergarten Readiness Group

June 11-July 25th, 2019

This group is for children entering kindergarten with an emphasis on foundational skills needed for classroom success. This group will be offered twice a week and you may register your child for any number of days. The group sessions will target:

  • Language development including phonemic awareness, sounding out words and early reading skills
  • Following multi-step directions, age level task completion
  • Self-regulation strategies; impulse control; staying with the group
  • Fine motor skill development – cutting, pencil grip, hand strength
  • Handwriting – number and letter formation; beginning words
  • Gross motor skills – coordination, balance, and core strengthening
  • Social pragmatic skills/ social attention

Preschool Social Motor Group

June 11-July 25th, 2019

This group is for preschool age children (3’s and 4’s) with an emphasis on foundational skills needed for improved peer interactions and classroom success. This group will be offered twice a week and you may register your child for any number of days.

The group sessions will target:

  • Language development – expressive and receptive; phonemic awareness; pre-reading development; peer interaction/play
  • Following multi-step directions; staying on task, early sequencing
  • Fine motor development – pre-writing skills, hand strengthening and cutting skills and motor planning
  • Recognizing social cues and following expected behaviors
  • Self-regulation strategies; impulse control; staying with the group
  • Social attention

Handwriting Camp

Take the stress out of handwriting with our fun multi-sensory group class for children! This group is designed to improve pencil grip, letter formation, letter size, spacing, line usage, legibility, letter memory and sequencing, fine motor strength and coordination, as well as story formation. Format consists of 6-8 kids with two teachers; one Occupational Therapist and an Assistant. We use various handwriting curriculums to meet the needs of your student.

Weekly Sessions by Grade Level (2019-2020 School Year Grade):

  • June 10-14, 9-11:00am/1-3:00pm – PK4-Kindergarten
  • July 8-12, 9:00am-11:00am – Kindergarten
  • July 15-19, 9:00am-11:00am – 1st-2nd Grade
  • July 22-26, 9:00am-11:00am – PK4-Kindergarten
  • July 29-Aug 2, 9:00am-11:00am – Kindergarten
  • Aug 5-9, 9:00am-11:00am – 1st-2nd Grade
  • Aug 5-9, 1:00pm-3:00pm – PK4-Kindergarten
  • Aug 12-16, 9:00am-11:00am – PK4-Kindergarten
  • Aug 12-16, 1:00pm-3:00pm – Kindergarten

Session Pricing: $120 for 2-Days, $180 for 3-Days, $300 for 5-Days

Fun Eating For Kids

June 11-July 25th, 2019

This group is for children with an emphasis on sensory and oral motor goals as it relates to eating. Please note that this is a lunch group, so please send the kids hungry. We will be providing all food. You can let us know when you sign up if your child has any food sensitivities or allergies.

The group sessions will target:

  • Expanding food preferences at home and at school
  • Facilitating opportunities for eating lunch at school in expected time frames
  • Sensory, oral motor, and behavioral techniques to address underlying factors contributing to picky eating
  • Opportunities for children to participate in food preparation
  • Social attention

If you need extended day options the Zones Sports Camp, Ravlin, and Houston Sword Sports offer kids entering kindergarten-5th grade until 3pm. They have half day options or pay by the day.
